Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
Last updated: August 30, 2026 • Student Atelier Code of Conduct & Security Standards
This Acceptable Use Policy defines the standards of conduct required of all students, alumni, and visitors interacting with Shittal's Institute of Fashion (SIF) online portals, video classrooms, community discussion boards, and live event chats.
1. Strictly Prohibited Technical Activities & Anti-Piracy
Zero-Tolerance Intellectual Property Protection:
All drafting blueprints, instructional videos by Dr. Sheetal Patil, calculation formulas, and master notes are protected under the Indian Copyright Act, 1957.
- No Video Ripping or Screen Recording: Using software screen capture, stream recording tools, or browser sniffing extensions to extract video feeds is strictly forbidden.
- No Account Sharing / Reselling: SIF accounts are strictly for individual student use. Sharing credentials or reselling access is detected automatically by our single-device session lock and leads to immediate termination.
- No Unauthorized Scraping, Bots or Automation: Running automated crawlers, bots, or scrapers against our course catalog, APIs, or student profiles is prohibited. Bypassing honeypot security traps or submitting scripted admissions inquiries is strictly forbidden.
- No Tampering with Pricing / Security: Attempting to tamper with coupon codes, checkout payloads, self-referral blocks, or Firestore security rules will be flagged for immediate account termination and legal prosecution.
2. Classroom Community & Designer 1-on-1 Chat Etiquette
When posting assignments, interacting in live event chats, or messaging through the SIF Designer Directory:
- Maintain respectful, supportive, and professional communication with fellow designers, faculty, and clients.
- Designer Chat Integrity: Direct messaging between clients and alumni designers is intended strictly for authentic bespoke tailoring consultations. Harassment, deceptive pricing schemes, transmission of unverified external payment links, or sharing malicious file attachments is strictly prohibited.
- Do not post unsolicited commercial advertisements, spam, affiliate promotions, or unrelated marketing links in student discussion boards.
- Do not upload abusive, defamatory, sexually explicit, or copyright-infringing content.
- Respect peer privacy: never publish another student's contact details, measurements, or work without explicit written consent.
3. Portfolio, Capstone & Alumni Credential Integrity
When submitting capstones, applying to the SIF Alumni Network, or listing a boutique on the Designer Directory:
- Authentic Authorship: All submitted garment photographs, capstone drafting sheets, and portfolio pictures must represent the student's or designer's own authentic bespoke craftsmanship. Submitting stock photography, third-party internet designs, or plagiarized student work is grounds for permanent de-listing.
- No Forged Credentials: Falsifying SIF certificate serial numbers, claiming unearned grades, or forging institutional honors is a violation of institutional policy and will result in public certificate revocation.
4. Violation Enforcement & Account Sanctions
SIF reserves the right to review reported violations. Violations may result in:
- Warning / Content Removal: Deletion of offending messages, assignment posts, or fraudulent portfolio images.
- Temporary Suspension: Revocation of forum, live chat, or Designer Directory messaging participation privileges.
- Permanent Account Revocation: Immediate termination of enrolled courses, designer profile deactivation, and certificate invalidation without refund.
- Legal Remedies: Pursuit of civil damages and criminal complaints under applicable Indian intellectual property and cyber laws.
